SIOUX FALLS — Ken Duke’s 5-under-65 put him in a tie for the lead Saturday, Sept. 21, joining opening-round leader Kirk Triplett at the top of the leaderboard at the Sanford International PGA Tour Champions golf tournament at Minnehaha Country Club.
Duke posted birdies on Holes No. 11, 12 and 15 to make a late move to 6-under-par. He joined Triplett in first place, after Triplett fired a 2-under-68 for the second round.
Paul Goydos shot a 66 and holds third place alone, standing one shot back. Steve Flesch, who was 1-over entering Saturday, took advantage of more benign wind conditions in Sioux Falls and shot a 65 to move to 4-under for the weekend.
Along with Flesch, Marco Dawson, Colin Montgomerie, and Bob Estes are all two shots back at 4-under, and each carded rounds of 66 on Saturday. Paul Broadhurst is also in the 4-under grouping, after shooting a round of 69 in Saturday’s final threesome.
Along with Duke and Goydos, Jay Haas also shot a 65 on Saturday to get himself into contention before Sunday’s final round. He’s four shots back in a grouping tied for 14th.
Duke, Triplett and Goydos will make up Sunday’s final group. They will tee off at 11:20 a.m.
