Gymnastics: Harguth, Deason advance to state

The Brainerd Warriors competed in the Section 8-2A finals.

SAUK RAPIDS — Josie Harguth tied for first place on the balance beam to help lead the Brainerd Warriors to a fourth-place team finish in the Section 8-2A finals Saturday, March 20.

Marley Michaud of Sartell took first place on the vault and the floor exercise and Sartell qualified as a team for the Class 2A state meet.

Harguth will represent the Warriors on the beam at the Class 2A state meet while teammate Brenna Deason qualified for two events. Deason tied for fifth place and qualified for state on the vault and secured the fifth spot on the floor routine which clinched a spot at state.

Deason was the top finisher for Brainerd in the all-around competition with a score of 36.675 which was good for eighth place.
