BEMIDJI-The Brainerd Warriors trailed only St. Cloud Tech in the Section 8-2A gymnastics meet Friday.
Tech, the defending Class 2A state champion, scored 147.725 points. Brainerd finished with 143.275.
Brainerd's Millie Klefsaas will advance to the Class 2A state meet in four events after finishing with two firsts, a third and a fourth place. Teammate Jaelyn Kappes also advances to state as she was co-champion on vault with a 9.475.
The top four individuals qualify in each event.
Klefsaas won the all-around with a 37.325. That score came from a first on floor, a third on beam, a fourth on bars and a sixth on vault. She tied for second on beam, but dropped to third via the tie breaker.

Brainerd's Abbie Abramson finished fifth on beam, one spot away from advancing.
