Gymnastics: Warriors place 3rd as a team, Olson and Deason advance to state individually

ST. CLOUD — Brainerd Warrior gymnasts Izzy Olson and Brenna Deason advanced to the state tournament on Saturday, Feb 15, at the Section 8-2A Tournament.

Olson finished third overall in the all-around competition with a score of 36.625.

Deason finished in fifth place on the vault and second in the floor routine. Olson and Deason will advance individually in each of those categories.

As a team the Warriors finished third in the eight-team field. Sartell-St. Stephen took the top spot to advance to the state tournament.

Olson placed third in the all-around including a career high 9.175 on the bars. Deason finished in eighth place in the all-around and Brooke Jones with a seventh place finish and a career high of 8.975 on the bars.


The Warrior team also received the Gold Academic Award with a team GPA of 3.85.

Senior academic honors went to Selisker, Jones, Eden Worden and Helen Knudson.
