Brainerd's Izzy Olson won the balance beam and uneven parallel bars and finished third in the vault to win the all-around and led the Brainerd Warriors to its first win over the St. Cloud Tech Tigers in 14 years with a 140.325-139.250 victory at Brainerd High School.
"We knew it was going to be a tough matchup," Warriors head coach Tessa Poorker said. "Our teams push each other. When we compete against the best we become the best and tonight we ended up on top."
Olson scored a 36.25 to capture the all-around. Brenna Deason was fourth with a 33.825 as she won the floor with a 9.325. Olson scored an 8.85 on bars and an 8.09 on beam.
"She picks her team up," Poorker said. "We put her strategically in the line up where we think she can be an anchor in the middle. She is only an eighth grader so we're excited to see where she can go."
Also placing for the Warriors were Ellie Selisker who took second in vault. Brooke Jones was third on bars and Kenna Smith was third on beam
