HEADLINE Area Girls Tennis: Pierz places 5th at Pine City

PINE CITY -- Mariah Kirschbaum and the Pierz doubles team of Kami Athman and Katelylyn Smude finished second in their brackets to lead the Pioneers to a fifth-place team finish at the Pine City Tournament Saturday, Sept. 7.

The sixth-place Crosby-Ironton Rangers collected third-place finishes from their doubles teams at No. 1 (Kalina Spalj and Tori Decent) and No. 3 (Bella Sablan and Isabelle Viginiri). Bella Severson also finished third at No. 4 singles.

Macy Paulbeck’s second at No. 4 singles was the top finish for the seventh-place Aitkin Gobblers.
