Former Staples-Motley athletic director and current Cardinals golf coach Glen Hasselberg will be inducted into the Minnesota Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Hall of Fame Wednesday, March 30, at the River's Edge Convention Center and Kelly Inn in St. Cloud.

Hasselberg, a 1967 graduate of Staples High School, earned his associate in arts degree from Brainerd State Junior College and his undergraduate degree from Bemidji State College.

In 1974, Hasselberg accepted a job in the industrial arts program at Staples High School and was hired as the Cardinals' girls golf coach. Twenty-four years later, he added the responsibility of coaching the boys golf team. He has been named state golf coach of the year six times. In 1990, he was named activities director at Staples-Motley High School.

In 2005, Hasselberg earned the State Award of Merit from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. He was named Subsection Athletic Director of the Year three times. He served on the Minnesota State High School League Board of Directors as a committee member and ran section tournaments for nine sports as well as for speech, drama and music.

Hasselberg was a registered MSHSL football and basketball official for 42 years and officiated more than 30 state tournament games.

In addition, Hasselberg was an active member of the Lions Club, Terrace Golf Club, VFW, American Legion and Minnesota Golf Association. He has served as president or board of director in nearly all of those organizations and has been a recipient of the Melvin Jones and Helen Keller awards.
