Brainerd's McCale Peterson ended up on the mound to decide both outcomes of Friday's Central Lakes Conference doubleheader with Fergus Falls.

In Game One, he struck out eight, walked two and held the Otters to one hit for a 10-0 six-inning victory.

Peterson came on in relief of Colin Kleffman in Game Two. With a man on board, Peterson allowed back-to-back singles to load the bases. He induced a double play ball that would have ended the inning, but an error on the throw to first allowed two runs to score leading to a 7-6 Warrior loss.

"We just didn't hit when we really needed to," Warrior head coach Lowell Scearcy said. "Our pitching was good in both games and we made a couple of crucial errors. We need to be more consistent and we need to find someone who can drive in more runs than we have."

Peterson finished 2-3 with a double. Kleffman was 2-2 with a double and an RBI and Max Boran was 2-4 with an RBI. Josh Hukriede was 2-3 with two RBIs for Brainerd in Game one.

In Game Two, Kleffman went six innings. He allowed five runs, four earned, on six hits and two walks. He struck out five.

Brainerd got on the board first when Peterson singled and stole second base in the first inning. He later scored on a double play.

With two outs in the fifth, Peterson doubled and moved to second on an error that landed Kleffman at first. A Boran single drove in Peterson and Kleffman later scored on a wild pitch to give Brainerd a 3-1 edge.

The Warriors loaded the bases in the top of the seventh and Hunter Wicklund walked to drive in a run and David Benson drove in another on a sacrifice fly for a 6-4 lead, but the Otters scored three in the bottom half for the victory.
