High School Football: Cardinals grab first win of season

ROSEAU — Isaiah Schultz threw for two touchdowns and Sivert Klefsaas ran for a score in a 20-6 non-subdistrict win for Staples-Motley over Roseau Friday, Oct. 30.

Max Strickland was on the receiving end of a 30-yard pass from Schultz that gave the Cardinals a 7-0 lead at the half.

Chandler Braith hauled in a 20-yard pass for a score from Schultz in the fourth quarter and Klefsaas closed out the scoring with a 4-yard run.

The Cardinals, led by 197 yards passing from Schultz, outgained the Rams by a 235-129 margin

Braith led the receivers with six catches for 89 yards and Klefsaas rushed 24 times for 44 yards.

It was the first win of the year for the Cardinals.
