Pequot Lakes Patriots head football coach Chip Lohmiller has resigned his position and his resignation was accepted by the school board at its Monday meeting, Pequot Lakes activities director Marc Helmrichs said in a news release.

Lohmiller was the Patriots' head coach for the past 14 seasons and compiled an 80-64 overall record. Since 2009 the Patriots advanced to seven section finals. During that 9-year span, the Patriots went 63-34. They have gone 31-13 the past four years.

In 2009 and 2017, the Patriots were section champions. Last fall they advanced to the Class 3A state semifinals at US Bank Stadium.

"Coach Lohmiller has been a key part of our athletic department for many years," Helmrichs said in Tuesday's news release. "He has done a great job of helping our athletes reach their potential as football players. Coach Lohmiller has done an outstanding job of preparing our players for each and every game.

"I want to thank Coach Lohmiller for his work at Pequot Lakes High School and wish him the best in his future endeavors."
