High School Football: Olsson leads Pirates to victory

ORTONVILLE — Zak Olsson gained 199 all-purpose yards and Zach Brownlow tallied two interceptions for Verndale in a 20-6 West South Subdistrict win over Ortonville Friday, Nov. 6.

Olsson filled in at running back and rushed 29 times for 109 yards. He was also the primary receiving target for quarterback Dilan Orlando as the two connected eight times for 90 yards.

Orlando opened the scoring with a 1-yard plunge in the first quarter, but the Trojans tied the game 6-6 in the second quarter.

Olsson scored on a 2-yard run in the third quarter and Orlando found the end zone from a yard out in the fourth quarter.

Orlando threw 24 times with 12 completions for 135 yards.
