High School Football: Pierz advances to section finals in rout

PIERZ -- Matthias Algarin of Pierz scored on a 68-yard punt return and rushed for two more for the No. 2 seeded Pioneers as they crushed the No. 3 seeded Minnewaska Lakers 48-0 Saturday, Oct. 26, in the section 6-3A semifinals.

Micheal Leidenfrost opened the scoring with a 31 yard interception return. Leidenfrost also recorded a 72 yard touchdown run in the second quarter and was Pioneers rushing leader with eight carries for 92 yards.
