High School Football: Pierz holds on to prevail over Cathedral

PIERZ — Michael Leidenfrost rushed 30 times for 153 yards and scored three touchdowns as Pierz defeated St. Cloud Cathedral 28-19 in the Section 6-3A quarterfinals Tuesday, Nov. 17.

The Pioneers and Crusaders were tied at seven at halftime as Noah Cekalla connected with Zach Jones on a 35-yard pass for the Pierz score.

It was all Leidenfrost in the second half as he scored on rushes of 15, 11 and 1 yards.

Cekalla completed six passes for 97 yards and Jeremy Beingesser hauled in two passes for 42 yards.

The Pioneers moved to 7-0 with the win.
