High School Football: Pirates power past Bertha-Hewitt

VERNDALE — Verndale’s Brandon Greenwaldt hauled in a 17-yard scoring pass from Dilan Orlando and returned a fumble 45 yards for a score in a 42-6 District 9, West South Subdistrict and Section 4-Nine Man victory over the Bertha-Hewitt Bears Friday, Oct. 30.

Zak Olsson scored on a 59-yard dash to open the scoring and also caught a 27-yard pass from Orlando in the second quarter. Hunter Schulke and Ben Brownlow also scored rushing touchdowns for the Pirates.

Orlando completed five passes for 88 yards and Schulke rushed 18 times for 85 yards.

Verndale outgained Bertha-Hewitt by a margin of 333-157.
