HANCOCK-The Verndale Pirates didn't shy away from throwing a wet football with Tate Bounds throwing for 169 yards and and two touchdowns, as Verndale defeated Hancock 40-21 in a District 9 West, Subdistrict South matchup Friday, Oct. 5.
The Pirates, ranked third in Nine-Man, tallied 417 total yards of offense.
Matt Steege led the rushing attack with 118 yards and two touchdowns, and Bounds threw to Craig Orlando and Brayden Vertina for touchdowns in the first quarter, and Bounds ran in for a score in the third quarter.
Jarret Kveton also scored on a 10-yard scamper in the second quarter.
