High School Football: PRB to receive Wilson Golden Football

Super Bowl XXX participant Rohn Stark will present Pine River-Backus High School with a commemorative Wilson Golden Football at 6:30 p.m. Friday before the Tigers' game against the Pillager Huskies.

Super Bowl XXX participant Rohn Stark will present Pine River-Backus High School with a commemorative Wilson Golden Football at 6:30 p.m. Friday before the Tigers' game against the Pillager Huskies.

Stark, a Pine River High School graduate, is a former punter for the Baltimore Colts, Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks. He played for the Steelers in the 1996 Super Bowl which Pittsburgh lost 27-17.

In the NFL, he played in 252 games and retired after the 1998 season. He was selected to four Pro Bowls and retired as one of the most accomplished punters in NFL history.

The Super Bowl High School Honor Roll program celebrates high schools and communities that have contributed to Super Bowl history. It is designed to link past Super Bowls with this year's game and honor high schools and communities that have positively impacted the game.

High schools across the nation, and around the world, will receive a commemorative Wilson Golden Football for every player or head coach who graduated from their school and was on an active Super Bowl roster.

The NFL Foundation will provide the schools with a character education curriculum and the opportunity to apply for grants of up to $5,000 to help support and grow their football programs. The NFL Foundation has invested $1 million in the campaign.
