High School Football: Schulke leads Pirates to victory

VERNDALE — Hunter Schulke rushed for 216 yards and all four touchdowns for the Verndale Pirates in a 28-20 West South Subdistrict win over the Rothsay Tigers Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Schulke carried the ball on 40 of Verndale’s 50 rushing attempts. Dilan Orlando 7-of-9 passes for 140 yards as the Pirates racked up a 412-264 yard advantage in total offense.

Rothsay jumped out to a 12-0 first quarter lead before Verndale countered with two scores in the second to take the lead for good and a 14-12 advantage.

Verndale takes a 5-1 record into the Section 4 9-man quarterfinals Tuesday, Nov. 17.
