HOLDINGFORD -- Carter Moulzolf ran for two touchdowns for Class 3A’s top-ranked Pierz Pioneers, who rolled past the Holdingford Huskers 47-0 in a Mid-State Subdistrict 1 game Friday, Sept. 20.
It was the third shutout of the season for the unbeaten Pioneers who have outscored their opponents 171-28. Pierz led 41-0 at halftime and played the second half in running time with their reserves. The Pioneers compiled a 418-43 yards advantage in total offensive yardage.
Moulzolf scored on runs of 4 and 53 yards and finished with 83 yards on three carries. Michael Leidenfrost rushed twice for 74 yards including a 57-yard scoring romp. Mathias Algarin carried seven times for 36 yards and a 10-yard score.
Blake Kowalczyk ran 5 yards for a Pierz TD at the end of the first half. Ben Virnig picked up 107 yards on three carries, all in the second half, including a 63-yard run to the endzone.
Quarterback Peter Schommer completed 3-of-3 passes for 76 yards, including a 27-yard scoring toss to Alex Barclay.
