High School Football: Verndale scores 50 in win over Warriors

SEBEKA -- Jake Ismil and Craig Orlando rushed for a combined 323 yards to lead the unbeaten and fifth-ranked Verndale Pirates past the United North Central Warriors 50-14 in a West South Subdistrict game Friday, Sept. 13.

Ismil ran for 210 yards on 14 carries, including scoring runs of 24 and 5 yards. He also caught four passes for 60 yards.

Craig Orlando ran 17 yards for a touchdown and finished with 113 yards on 12 carries. Defensively, he contributed 17 tackles and two sacks.

Sophomore quarterback Dilan Orlando completed 8 of 12 passes for 99 yards including a 27-yard scoring strike to Zak Olsson. He also ran for two 1-yard touchdowns.

Zack Brownlow completed Verndale’s scoring with a 5-yard run in the fourth quarter.
