Hockey: Lumberjacks rally past North Stars

The Granite City Lumberjacks trailed 1-0, but scored the next five goals in a 5-1 win over the Breezy Point North Stars in North American3 junior hockey action Saturday, Feb. 9.

The Granite City Lumberjacks trailed 1-0, but scored the next five goals in a 5-1 win over the Breezy Point North Stars in North American3 junior hockey action Saturday, Feb. 9.

Dustin Sadler's goal in the opening minutes put Breezy Point ahead before Granite City rallied for a 3-1 lead going into the second period. The Lumberjacks' rally was sparked by Hunter Schwehr, who combined for two goals and two assists.

Winning netminder Matt Fitzgerald had 21 saves while the North Stars' Jacob MacLennan turned aside 26 shots.

Breezy Point, 12-25-3-1 overall, are scheduled to host New Ulm Friday, Feb. 15, and travel to Rochester Saturday, Feb. 16.
