New Ulm Steel edged the Breezy Point North Stars 5-4 in a shootout in North American3 junior hockey action Friday, Feb. 15, at Breezy Point Arena.
The North Stars led 2-1 after Garrett Freeman scored twice in the first period. Cooper Hoheisel and Dan Wieber each tallied to give Breezy Point a 4-2 lead early in the third period. The Steel eventually tied it 4-4 to force overtime. Jake Ford's shootout goal clinched the win for New Ulm.
Winning goaltender Henry Baribeau stopped 21 shots while the North Stars' Jacob MacLennan had 45 saves.
On Saturday, Feb. 16, Rochester skated past Breezy Point 4-0 as Nick Bucklin stopped all 27 shots by the North Stars. MacLennan finished with 42 saves.
Breezy Point, 12-26-3-2 overall, is scheduled to play at Alexandria Friday, Feb. 22, and host Alexandria Saturday, Feb. 23.
