Hockey: Phillips continues his high-scoring ways

Former Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverine Max Phillips was named the Eastern Hockey League star of the week.

Phillips plays for the Connecticut Chiefs, who swept a home-and-home series with the Connecticut RoughRiders. Phillips is the captain of the Chiefs and tallied five points in the two wins.

After putting up 30 points in 46 games last season, Phillips already has 17 points in his first 15 games this season.

The Chiefs are currently fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Conference with 17 points.

Phillips is the son of Pete and Shari Phillips of Wadena. He graduated from W-DC in 2019 and finished No. 3 on W-DC’s all-time scoring leader with 182 career points and 101 career goals.
