Brainerd High School graduate Matt Pohlkamp of Baxter has signed with the Toledo Walleye, the Detroit Red Wings' affiliate in the East Coast Hockey League.
Pohlkamp was scheduled to make his pro debut Friday, March 24, against the Florida Everblades. Toledo also hosts the Everblades at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, March 25, and the Norfolk Admirals at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, March 26.
A right wing, Pohlkamp recently completed his senior season at Bowling Green State University in the WCHA. In 160 games for the Falcons, he accumulated 38 goals, 50 assists (88 points).
He made the WCHA All-Academic Team three straight seasons. Pohlkamp scored at least 23 points in each of his last three seasons combined and was a plus 42 for his career. In his last five games for Bowling Green, he collected five goals and five assists.
Pohlkamp posted career bests of 13 goals this season and 17 assists as a sophomore and in 2014-15 led the Falcons with a plus 20.

In addition, he played 30 games for the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League in 2012-13 with four goals and six assists. He also played for the Bismarck Bobcats of the North American Hockey League in 2012-13, scoring eight goals and adding six assists in 18 games.
