DULUTH — The sixth edition of the NCHC’s all-conference teams went to the dogs from the State of Hockey on Wednesday, March 13.

The 2018-19 All-NCHC first team was nothing but Bulldogs and St. Cloud State Huskies. UMD, which had a record total of five on the three teams, is represented on the first team by sophomore defenseman Scott Perunovich of Hibbing and junior goaltender Hunter Shepard of Cohasset.

Perunovich, third among NCHC defensemen in scoring in league games with two goals and 14 assists, was an All-NCHC first-team and all-rookie team pick a year ago while Shepard, whose five shutouts and 1.92 goals-against average was tops in league play, was on the second team.

The rest of the first team was made up of defenseman Jimmy Schuldt and forwards Patrick Newell, Ryan Poehling and Blake Lizotte — all from the regular-season champion Huskies. It’s the first time a school placed more than two players on the first team.

Bulldogs sophomore center Justin Richards was named to the All-NCHC second team while sophomore forward Nick Swaney and sophomore defenseman Mikey Anderson were honorable mention selections. It’s the first all-conference honor for all three.

UMD freshman wing Noah Cates was named to the all-rookie team on Tuesday. Nominees for the league’s annual awards will be announced Thursday.
