The top 150 fish from the Brainerd Jaycees Ice Fishing Extravaganza brought 150 anglers major prizes Jan.28 on Gull Lake. These winners are among over 11,000 anglers that participated. Contest organizers report 826 fish were registered during the contest.
Contestants came from as far away as Western Europe, and also from across the country, including Hawaii, New York, California, and Texas to name a few.
Tullibee was the name of the game on the leaderboard throughout the day at Hole-in-the-Day Bay on Brainerd's Gull Lake, taking 137 of the 150 spots on the leaderboard. The contest included many fish that weighed the same. As the contest rules state, in the event of a tie, the first fish registered takes priority.
