Matthew DeRosa completed his hat trick with a goal in overtime to lead the host Rochester Grizzlies past the Breezy Point North Stars 7-6 in North American3 Junior Hockey League action Saturday, Oct. 13.
The game was tied 1-1 after the first period as James Curran scored for Breezy Point. Rochester added five goals in the second period before the North Stars responded with goals by Dustin Sadler, Cooper Hoheisel and Jacob Berkowitz in the middle session. Breezy Point's Reid Morin and Casey Horman scored in the third period to force overtime.
Winning goaltender Max Closer had 19 saves while Max Eilefson stopped 42 shots.
On Friday, Oct. 12, Rochester scored four goals in the third period to down the North Stars 5-2 at the Breezy Point Arena. Curran scored in the first period while Morin tallied in the third session. Winning netminder Nick Bucklin had 19 saves while Eilefson stopped 29 shots.
The North Stars travel to North Iowa to play games Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20.
