LITTLE FALLS-Dave Benson allowed two hits in six innings to pitch the Brainerd American Legion team past Little Falls 1-0 Thursday, July 5.
Benson walked three and struck out three as Brainerd improved to 8-5. Sam Miller went 2-for-3 with a double and Ben Jones and Bryce McConville each doubled for Brainerd.
Max Boran pitched the final inning for Brainerd with a walk and two strikeouts.
Travis Wenzel and Jake Kapphahn had the only Little Falls hits.
Kapphahn started on the mound and pitched five innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out four. Thomas Kunkel pitched the final two innings and allowed no runs and two hits with two strikeouts.

Brainerd hosts an 8-team tournament Friday, July 6, through Sunday, July 8, at Adamson Field at Brainerd High School and at the Findorff Athletic Complex at Central Lakes College.
