MINOT, N.D.-Michael Laber doubled and drove in three runs to help the Brainerd American Legion team to a 5-3 victory over East Grand Forks in the consolation championship game of the Minot Tournament Sunday, July 1.
Colin Kleffman doubled and finished 2-for-4 and Max Boran added two hits for Brainerd which scored four runs in the top of the seventh for the win. Laber pitched three innings in relief to get the win. He allowed only one hit with two walks and two strikeouts.
In Game One Friday, June 29, McCale Peterson went 2-3 with a home run and two RBIs in an 11-6 loss to Minot. Boran was 3-3 and Broc Peterson and Kleffman each contributed two hits.
In its second game Friday, Brainerd romped past Saskatoon 12-2 as Kleffman homered, drove in three runs and walked four times. Broc Peterson and Boran each collected two hits. McCale Peterson went the distance on the mound allowing five hits and two earned runs with four walks and three strikeouts.
Saturday, June 30, Boran went 3-4 but Brainerd was nipped 8-7 by Bismarck, N.D. Ben Jones and Colby Watland each had two hits.
