ST. PAUL-A four-run sixth inning allowed Elk River to erase a 4-1 deficit and defeat Brainerd 5-4 Sunday in the Gopher Classic Tournament.
Elk River went on to win the North St. Paul bracket and advance to play Monday in the largest legion tournament in the country.
Brainerd built a 4-1 edge thanks to a three-run fifth inning. Ben Jones and Alex Haapajoki each finished 2-3. Brady Anderson drove in two runs and McCale Peterson hit a double.
Brainerd also fell to East Ridge Sunday 3-2.
Eli Sundquist finished 2-3 and Tristan Richardt was 1-3 with an RBi.

Bryce McConville suffered the loss. He scattered nine hits and two walks, which resulted in three runs. He struck out two.
