DULUTH-After 4 1/2 innings, the Nisswa Legion found itself trailing Lakeview 17-0 Wednesday in the second round of the Substate 10, Division 1 playoffs.
Nisswa cut the deficit to one run before falling 17-16 in nine innings to fall into the loser's bracket.
A total of 23 walks were issued in the marathon game.
Nisswa's Hunter Wickland finished 5-6 with four runs scored. McCale Peterson was 3-6 with a double and five RBIs. Bryce Flanagan drove in four runs on two hits. Colin Kleffman hit a double and drove in three runs and Max Boran was 2-4 with a double and three RBIs.
Sam Miller pitched 1 1/3 innings. He allowed three hits and six runs, five of which were earned, with three walks and a strikeout.

Bryce McConville went three innings. He allowed 10 runs, six earned, four walks and struck out one.
Chad Orsborn, in his pitching debut, went four innings. He allowed four hits, one earned run and walked six.
Braydon Borg pitched 5 2/3 innings to lead Nisswa to an 11-1 opening-round victory over Virginia.
Borg allowed five hits and one unearned run. He walked one and struck out four. Connor Knettel went 1 1/3 inning on the mound. He allowed one hit and struck out one.
Flanagan finished 3-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Peterson was 2-4 with a double and three RBIs and Mac Brink tallied two hits.
