THIEF RIVER FALLS — MCAC Player of the Week award winner Josh Arnold knocked down 20 points and distributed six assists in an 85-67 win for Central Lakes over Northland in Northern Division action Wednesday, Jan 8.

The Raiders came into the game winners of five of their last six games. An eight point CLC halftime lead grew to 18 points midway through the second half and 13 players received playing time.

“Our defense was good tonight and contained them well,” said Raiders head coach Jim Russell. “Our captains (Tyree’on Johnson and Arnold) really stepped up and it was Gavin’s (Smith) turn, which helped us a lot. We are coming together as a team.”

Johnson collected 18 points and six rebounds as Central Lakes shot 49% from the field, while Smith finished 3-5 in three-point shooting.

The Pioneers, 3-3 in their last six games, shot 43% for the game, but the Raiders held a 30-17 point edge in points from turnovers.
