Men's College Hockey: Bowling Green advances to WCHA Final Five

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - For the third time in five years, the Bowling Green State University Falcons defeated Northern Michigan in a conference tournament best-of-three series, capping a sweep over the Wildcats with a 4-1 victory Saturday night.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - For the third time in five years, the Bowling Green State University Falcons defeated Northern Michigan in a conference tournament best-of-three series, capping a sweep over the Wildcats with a 4-1 victory Saturday night.

Sophomore Matt Pohlkamp of Baxter had a team-high seven shots.

Bowling Green moves on to the WCHA Final Five in St. Paul. The third-seeded Falcons will play No. 2 Michigan Tech at 4 p.m. Friday in the semifinals at the Xcel Energy Center. Winners of Friday's semifinals will play at 6:07 p.m. Saturday for the Broadmoor Trophy.

On Friday, BGSU freshman Tyler Spezia scored the game-winner 19:32 into overtime and the Falcons beat Northern Michigan 3-2. Freshman Mitch McLain of Baxter scored the Falcons' first goal, assisted by Pohlkamp and Connor Kucera. McLain was named the game's No. 3 star.

Through 34 games, Pohlkamp is Bowling Green's second-leading scorer with eight goals and 15 assists. McLain has scored seven goals and added nine assists.
