BOWLING GREEN, Ohio-Matt Pohlkamp collected two assists and the Bowling Green State University hockey team made a stirring comeback Saturday with three goals in the final three minutes to earn a 5-3 victory over the Ferris State Bulldogs at the Slater Family Ice Arena.
The assists were Matt Pohlkamp's eighth and ninth of the season, while Chris Pohlkamp and Mitch McLain each added one assist.
The win gives fourth-seeded BGSU a series sweep and sends the Falcons to the best-of-three WCHA semifinal round next weekend.
BGSU (19-17-2) plays an opponent to be determined. The second (Michigan Tech) and third seeds (Minnesota State Mankato) have advanced. Top-seeded Bemidji State had to play a decisive third game Sunday. If BSU wins, the Falcons will go to Bemidji next weekend. If BSU loses, the Falcons will play in Mankato against Minnesota State.
On Friday, Matt Pohlkamp scored his ninth and 10th goals of the season in the Falcons' 6-1 victory over Ferris State. He also added two assists and McLain collected one.
