ANN ARBOR, Mich.-Tyler Sheehy's 3-point night carried the No. 5 Minnesota Gophers to a 4-1 win over Michigan Saturday, clinching a first-round bye in the Big Ten Tournament and reclaiming sole possession of first place with two games to play.
With an assist and two goals including the game winner in the victory, Sheehy leads the Big Ten with 52 points on the season-the most in a season by a Gopher since Ryan Potulny had 63 during the 2005-06 season.
Rem Pitlick and Leon Bristedt also scored for the Gophers while Eric Schierhorn stopped 27 of 28 shots to move to 22-10-2 on the year.
Minnesota (22-10-2 overall, 13-5-0-0 Big Ten) ends the regular season with a 2-game series against Michigan State next weekend at Mariucci Arena.
