Men's Swimming: Peder Smith on all-conference, all-academic teams

DECORAH, Iowa-Sophomore Peder Smith of Luther College has earned two honors from the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Smith, a 2016 graduate of Brainerd High School, earned all-conference honors as a member of the conference runner-up 800 freestyle relay. He swam the second leg for the Norse foursome that posted a time of 7:11.08.

For an athlete to earn all-conference honors, they must place in the top two of an individual event or be a member of a first- or second-place relay during the conference championships.

In addition, Smith was named to the Iowa Conference Winter Sports All-Academic team for the first time. To be eligible for Iowa Conference All-Academic Team honors a student-athlete must compete at the varsity level, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and attain a 3.50 or better grade point average. Smith is a Nordic Studies major with a GPA of 3.89.
