Motorsports: WWE night sends top racers home with belts

It was WWE night on Saturday, July 13, at North Central Speedway with belts going to winners in the six feature races.

Tim Gonska, Shawn Fletcher and Travis Roush made the familiar stop at the winners podium while Justin Pogones, Jake Hagemann and Seth Kramer also took home belts.

Roush won the 15-lap Sport Compact feature for his fourth win of the year with Zachery Schreder getting the second spot and Dan Kastner finishing in third.

Gonska increased his victory total for the season to seven as he took the lead from Dylan Cash on lap two of the 15-lap feature and led for the rest of the way. Michael Nelson took the second spot with Chris Seidel coming in third.

Justin Pogones picked a good night to get his first win of the year in the Mod 4 20-lap feature. He led for all 16 laps as the race was shortened by four laps because of five caution flags. Adam Prieve provided pressure for Pogones for the entire race but ended up with the second place finish with Josh Seely-Sautbine capturing the third spot.

Jake Hagemann also was a flag-to-flag winner in the Sportmod 20-lap feature. He started from the front row and never gave up the top spot. It was a battle for second and third place between Mark Martini and Brandon Schmidt with Martini claiming the No. 2 spot.

Seth Kramer has run all 11 feature races during the 2019 season and has six top-five finishes but had not made his way to the winners podium. He drew a spot on the front row in the 20-lap feature and made it count as he also held the top spot for the entire race, finishing out in front of Austin Niemeyer and Dylan Nelson.

The night concluded with a 20-lap feature for the Modified cars and the eight car field put on a clean performance with just one caution flag. Looking for his first win of the year Justin Jones led through the first 14 laps of the race before Shawn Fletcher caught him. Fletcher had the faster car and widened the gap between he and Jones and came away with the win with Jones finishing second and Erick Thiesse in third.
