PIERZ — Buckman and Nisswa advanced in the Region 8C Tournament championship round with victories Saturday, Aug. 8, while the Pierz Brewers and Fort Ripley dropped into the elimination bracket with losses.
AITKIN — Jeremiah Piepkorn belted a two-run homer and finished 3-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored for the Nisswa Lightning who defeated the Aitkin Steam 11-4 in the final Victory League regular-season game Friday, July 31.
FORT RIPLEY — Rhett Williamson doubled twice and drove in three runs for the Fort Ripley Rebels who rallied to defeat the Nisswa Lightning 8-7 Sunday, July 12, in a North Division game.
AVON -- Jason Roepke pitched 5 1/3 innings in relief to earn the win for the Nisswa Lightning who claimed the Region 8C Championship with a 5-2 victory over the Fort Ripley Rebels Sunday, Aug. 11.

AVON -- Following action in the Region 8C Tournament Sunday, Aug. 4, the field of four teams to represent the region in the State Class C Tournament has been set, but their seedings are yet to be determined.
PIERZ -- The Nisswa Lightning and Fort Ripley Rebels clinched berths in the Class C State Tournament with seven-inning victories in the Region 8C winners’ bracket Saturday, Aug. 3, at Hellie Field in Pierz.
The Pierz Bulldogs and Buckman Billygoats posted opening round victories in the Victory League East Divisional Playoffs Friday and Saturday, July 12-13.
