FERGUS FALLS-Gina Wasniewski and Evan Storbakken captured individual classic titles to lead the Brainerd Warriors to a sweep of the Central Lakes Conference Championships Monday, Feb. 11.
Wasniewski won the girl's classic in 17:10 helping the Warriors beat out Alexandria by one point, which was Brainerd's margin of victory over the Cardinals for a trip to state in last week's Section 8 meet. It was also the first career win for Wasniewski, a junior.
Emma Storbakken placed third and Abbygail Wohl-Kovatovich was fourth in the classic.
In the skate portion, Grace Erholtz's third-place time of 15:25 paced the Warriors with Liliana Schaeffer finishing fourth.
Storbakken dominated the classic field on the boy's side with a 43-second win. Maxim Osborne followed in second with Ben Renner third and Nole Robertson fourth.

Nick Whiteman's third-place time of 13:47 in the skate race paced the Warriors with Mitchell Neumann in fourth and Jacob Olson fifth.
Evan Storbakken, Osborne, Renner, Robertson, Whiteman, Newman and Olson were all all-conference skiers. David Dewey received an honorable mention.
Wasnieski, Emma Storbakken, Wohl-Kovatovich, Erholtz and Schaeffer earned all-conference distinction for the girls. Receiving honorable mention were Sarah Nesheim, Callie Knapp and Mari Devine.
