Camp Classic Results
Confidence Learning Center hosted the recent 46th Golf Classic and 36th Fishing Classic. Friday, June 14, kicked off with a full course of golfers at The Classic of Maddens.
"Each year a group of like-minded people come together to enjoy a day either on the golf course or on the waters of gull lake with one goal in mind-raise money (while having fun) for the Campers of Confidence Learning Center," said Jeff Olson, executive director, in a news release. "And that is exactly what was done this past weekend!"
Each year special awards are given to many walking ambassadors to the Campers of Confidence Learning Center and to the events.
The Golf Classic John Beyer Memorial Award was given to the VanWyngeeren Family, owner/operator of Crow Wing Recycle, who has dedicated over 20 years to Confidence Learning Center, from participating in the Classic each year to second generation board members and more.
The Sertoman's Mariucci Fiesta offered over 375 prizes on the silent auction, with eight live auction items. The Ralph Klapperich Award was given to the Volunteer of the Year Adam Extran, who volunteers at the Camp by bringing youth to volunteer and as a walking ambassador.
Saturday, June 15, boats launched for the 36th Annual Camp Fishing Classic from Maddens Lagoon.
"Another amazing year with many new guides and even Ron Lindner, who was here the very first one 36 years ago," Bob Slaybaugh, program director at Confidence Learning Center, said in a news release. "We were honored to give out the Everett Lassig Award given to the Fishing Classic Ambassador of the Year Dan Yantes, who helps throughout the year in helping to recruit new business partners and guides for this annual event!"
A dedication award for joining the event for 20+ years was also given to fishing participants Ike and Barb Eigen.
The weekend was wrapped up with the Fishing Classic weigh-in and a cookout.
"The Campers really were the winners this weekend-although there are bragging rights that definitely will be heard," Sarah Smith, event coordinator, stated in a news release. "A huge thank you to all the sponsors, staff, participants and supporters of this great event."
The Camp Classic event is held the third weekend in June every year, and is the largest in-house fundraiser hosted by Confidence Learning Center; a 501c3 nonprofit located on Sylvan lake. Confidence Learning Center is an outdoor education/recreation center serving people of all ages with cognitive and physical disabilities.
