Once a year there is a gathering at Confidence Learning Center that some people see as just a day on the lake. But for over 100-plus anglers Fishing Has No Boundaries will be a day they will always remember, and they will be counting down the days until next year.
This is a day that Tammy and I look forward to as well, as do many other area fisherman and volunteers. And I think for most it’s not thought of as volunteering but more like a day of seeing old friends, meeting some new ones and just seeing the joy in someone’s eyes when they catch a fish. And on this day any fish is a trophy and even the smallest bluegill deserves a photo and possibly a high five.
There is much more to do other than fishing, including a fish fry, story telling, games and, of course, s’mores. You really can’t have an up north feel unless there are s’mores.
I would like to say to all the volunteers that spend countless hours organizing, thank you for making it a day all of us guides/captains/first mates look forward to as much as the anglers. Already have next year on the calendar, only 364 more days.
