The deadline to register for the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department's Pond Hockey program is Dec. 16.
Cost is $40 per participant.
Helmets, shin guards, elbow pads and jerseys are provided to the first 48 players to register. Players must provide their own sticks, skates and mouth guards.
Penguins are ages 7-10 and Polar Bears are ages 11-15. Ages are determined as of Jan. 1, 2017. Both leagues are for boys and girls. Games are played at Mill Avenue Park and at Nisswa, mostly on Saturday mornings.
Online registration is now available by going to www.ci.brainerd.mn.us/parks . A small service charge is applied to the registration cost when using a credit or debit card. Participants may also register at the Lum Park office during regular business hours. A mail-in registration form can be found at the parks and recreation website. Mail-in registrations must be received by Dec. 16.

Equipment handout will be from 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 17 at the Mill Avenue Park warming house.
Practices will begin Jan. 3 for the Penguins and Jan. 5 for the Polar Bears. Coaches will determine the practice schedules after the first night of practices for each league.
