Pond Hockey: Registration open for Brainerd's program

The deadline to register for the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department's Pond Hockey program is Dec. 19.

Cost is $35 per participant.

Helmets, shin guards and elbow pads are provided to the first 50 players to register. Players must provide their own sticks, skates and mouthguards.

Penguins are ages 7-10 and Polar Bears are ages 11-15. Ages are determined as of Jan. 1, 2015.

Both leagues are for boys and girls. Games are played at Mill Avenue Park and at Nisswa, mostly on Saturday mornings.

The Sea Lions is a 4 on 4 league for boys and girls ages 16-18. Cost is $100 per team. Players must provide all of their own equipment, including pucks. Games are played at Bane Park on Tuesday nights.

Register at the parks and recreation office at Lum Park during regular business hours. A mail-in registration form can be found at www.ci.brainerd.mn.us/parks . Mail-in registrations must be received by Dec. 19.

Volunteer coaches are needed.
