Alpine Ski: 4 former Warriors compete in college meet

Four former Brainerd Warriors competed in a college event Saturday, Jan. 15.

TAYLORS FALLS — Four Brainerd Warrior Alpine ski team alumni participated in their first United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association slalom race Saturday, Jan. 15, at Wild Mountain in Taylors Falls.

Brandon Neifert of Whiteman College, Cassidy Chaney of the University of Minnesota, Duluth, Erin Hoelzel of Northern Michigan University and Max Darkow of St. Thomas University competed.

Hoelzel’s Northern Michigan team won the women’s title. Hoelzel finished 14th individually in 1:10.15. Chaney led Duluth to second place with her 10th-place time of 1:09.12.

Neifert was the lone skier for Whiteman. He finished seventh individually on the men’s side with a 1:00.84. Darkow placed 19th individually with a 1:06.38.
