Area Baseball: Aitkin gets a Mid-State sweep of Park Rapids

AITKIN — Pitching by Aitkin’s Zack Ehnstrom and Tanner Hills led to shutout wins for the Gobblers who beat Park Rapids 8-0 in Game One and 4-0 in Game Two of a Mid-State Conference doubleheader Friday, May 20.

Ehnstrom pitched seven innings, struck out seven and allowed three hits. Ehnstrom also went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs in Game One.

Dayton Hallaway and Carson Kullhem each tallied a double and two runs scored for the Gobblers.

In Game Two, Hills threw seven innings, struck out five and allowied three hits.

Landon Janzen went 1-3 with a double and 2 RBIs, while Zack MacDonald went 1-3 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs.

PILLAGER— Pillager’s Eli Miller registered a double for the Huskies as they fell 13-2 to Parkers Prairie Friday, May 20.

TJ Swanberg went 2-for-2 for the Huskies with an RBI in the Park Region Conference game.

HENNING — Wadena-Deer Creek’s Payton Rondestvedt pitched five innings, struck out eight, only allowed one hit, tallied a double, three RBIs and two runs scored for the Wolverines as they shut out Ottertail Central 12-0 Friday, May 20.

Josh Dykhoff went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored while Isaac Hamann, Evan Lunde and Connor Davis also registered doubles for WDC in the Park Region Conference game.

BEMIDJI — Corbin Knapp went 3-for-5 including the walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh and picked up the win on the mound for the Pine River-Backus Tigers in their 9-8 Northland Conference win over the Blackduck Drakes Thursday, May 19, at Bemidji State University.

Owen Carlson and Chance Abraham tallied two hits for the Tigers. Rian Struss and Ethan Rugroden each had doubles in the win.
