Area Baseball: Gwost no-hits Mora

Five area teams were in action late Friday.

MILACA — Zach Gwost struck out nine over seven innings and allowed just one unearned run as he no-hit the Mora Mustangs for a 5-1 Granite Ridge Conference victory Friday, May 13.

Riley Czech finished 1-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored for the Little Falls. Czech’s hit was the Flyers’ only one. Little Falls forced five walks and Mora committed two errors helping Little Falls manufacture its run production.

Little Falls 6, Milaca 5

MILACA — Zach Gwost notched two hits and Collin Kray, Hudson Filippi and George Moore each knocked in two runs as Little Falls defeated Milaca 6-5 in a Granite Ridge Conference game Friday, May 13.

George pitched two innings in relief of Kray and picked up the win, striking out three Milaca batters.

NEW YORK MILLS — Connor Davis went 3-4 with a double and four RBIs and Josh Dykhoff was 3-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines in a 7-3 victory over the South Ridge Panthers Friday, May 13.

Isaac Hamann walked twice and scored twice and pitched the victory. He struck out eight over five innings and allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks.

Teshmoe Loer grabbed W-DC’s other hit.

NEW YORK MILLS — Connor Davis doubled and drove in two runs and Peyton Rondestvedt allowed two unearned runs on four hits and one walk and struck out six as Wadena-Deer Creek clipped the New York Mills Eagles 3-2 Friday, May 13.

Josh Dykhoff finished 2-3 with a double, run and an RBI. Isaac Hamann, Evan Lunde and Teshmoe Loer all had multiple hits for WDC.

Pequot Lakes drops 2

DETROIT LAKES — Pequot Lakes’ Andrew Villareal, Clay Erickson and Conner Quale each tallied two hits in a 7-6 Game One loss to the Detroit Lakes Lakers Friday, May 13.

Pequot was held to just two hits in a 2-0 Game Two loss during the Mid-State Conference doubleheader.

Villareal collected an RBI and Loge tallied three RBIs in the Game One loss.

Caden Nelson pitched six innings and gave up just two runs in Game Two. He struck out three.
