Area Boys Golf: Cardinals stack top 10 for win

Eight area teams were in action Monday.

FORT RIPLEY — Grant Bestland led five Staples-Motley Cardinals into the top 10 of the Eagle’s Landing Invite leaderboard Monday, May 23, leading to a first-place team score of 320.

Bestland fired a fourth-place 79 and was followed 80s from Carter White and Keller Anderson and 81s from Isaiah Schultz and Peyton Mithun.

Pierz Logan Herold and Lance Otremba tied for the individual medalist with 78s and led Pierz to third place.

Little Falls finished second with 79s coming from Richie Varriano and Nathan Boser. Nolan Kray shot an 82 for 11th place.

Pequot Lakes placed fourth without its regular varsity lineup. Seventh-grader Tollef Birkeland finished with an 83 for 12th.

Isaac Christianson’s 88 led Wadena-Deer Creek to eighth place.

CLOQUET — Tyler Seeling shot a fourth-place 75 to lead the Pequot Lakes Patriots to second place Monday, May 23, in the Lumberjack Invite at Cloquet Country Club.

Seeling shot nines of 38-37 for his 4-over round. Teammate Anthony Armstrong placed sixth with a 77

Will Meyer shot an 82 to lead Crosby-Ironton/Aitkin to 10th place.

Evan Imgrund and Drew Berrent both shot 94s for Pillager’s 363 team score.
