Area Girls Basketball: Patriots prevail in section quarters

2 area girls basketball teams were in playoff action over the weekend.

HERMANTOWN — Maci Martini hit four 3-pointers and finished with 20 points as did Isabel Larson pushing the top-seeded Pequot Lakes Patriots to a 70-34 victory over No. 8 Mesabi East in the Section 7-2A Quarterfinals Saturday, March 5.

Kelsi Martini added 13 points for the Patriots who picked up their 22nd-straight win

WADENA — The No. 4 seeded Pine River-Backus Tigers saw their season conclude with a 58-41 loss to the top-seeded Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars in the West Subsection 5-1A Semifinals Saturday, March 5.

The Tigers ended their season with an overall record of 14-12.
