Area Softball: CI sweeps SM in Mid-State doubleheader

CROSBY — Crosby-Ironton’s Mackenzie Weber went 3-for-4 with two RBIs as the Rangers beat the Staples Motley Cardinals 7-2 in Game One of a Mid-State Conference doubleheader Monday, May 16.

Staples-Motley’s Alli Olander went 2-4 with an RBI for the Cardinals in Game One.

The Rangers also managed a 8-7 win in Game Two. Weber went 2-4 with a double and two RBIs while Josie Schaefer went 2-4 with a double and one RBI.

Mandy Carter and Jade Storry each tallied a double for the Cardinals in Game Two.

Pequot Lakes 18, PRB 2

PINE RIVER — Morgan Eckes was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs while also pitching a four-inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts for the Pequot Lakes Patriots in an 18-2 non-conference victory over the Pine River-Backus Tigers Monday, May 16.

Maci Martini went 3-3 with three runs and three RBIs for the Patriots as they improved to 14-2 this season.

Aaliyah Lewis tallied an RBI and picked up the loss in the circle for the Tigers.

PIERZ — Pierz’s Britney Schommer threw five innings of shutout softball for the Pierz Pioneers who defeated the Osakis Silverstreaks 12-0 Monday, May 16.

Schommer struck out three and allowed just three hits.

Kiara Olesch went 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored and both Morgan Pohlkamp and Lily Riley went 2-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the non-conference game.

ROYALTON — Pillager’s Briana Blais pitched six innings and struck out five as the Pillager Huskies fell 3-0 to the Royalton Royals Monday, May 16.

Hannah Christle, Brooklyn Rudrud, Oliva Peterson, Sam Berent and Juliana Ewald all recorded a hit for the Huskies in the non-conference game.

Carissa Winscher went 3-4 with three RBIs and a run scored while Mary Kern went 2-2 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.

BHV fell 15-5 in Game Two with Skylar Bertram going 2-2 with a double, one RBI and one run scored.

WDC drops two

SEBEKA — Mercedes Schultz went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs in Game One as the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines lost two games to the Sebeka Trojans 12-5 and 14-3 in a Park Region Conference doubleheader Monday, May 16.

Addi Carr recorded two hits for the Wolverines while Jada Dykhoff tripled.

Jenna Dykhoff was given the loss in the circle as she struck out seven over six innings.

Haylee Dickey recorded two hits for the Wolverines in Game Two while Chloe Kapphahan drove in a run.

Montana Carsten was tagged with the loss in Game Two.
