Area Volleyball: Gravelle, Volkmann both reach milestones in W-DC win

10 area teams were in action Thursday, Sept. 22.

BERTHA — Wadena-Deer Creek’s Addyson Gravelle went over the 1,000 career set assist mark for the Wolverines in a 3-0 Park Region Conference win over Bertha-Hewitt Thursday, Sept 22.

Gravelle recorded 34 set assists and three digs. Madison Carsten added 16 kills and seven digs.

The victory was also W-DC head coach Sue Volkmann's 600th for her career.

PIERZ — Jayden Spillum recorded 21 kills, 16 digs and one block as the Little Flyers collected a 3-2 marathon victory over the Pierz Pioneers in a Granite Ridge Conference clash Thursday, Sept. 22.

Jaylene Newman tallied 25 set assists, 11 digs and a block and Avery Herdering added 24 set assists and 10 digs for the Flyers. Halle Reis finished with 12 kills and nine digs.

PEQUOT LAKES — Abi Martin recorded 25 set assists Thursday, Sept. 22, to reach 1,000 for her career and lead Class 2A’s top-ranked Pequot Lakes Patriots to a 3-0 Mid-State conference victory over the Crosby-Ironton Rangers.

Martin added seven digs and a kill as Pequot improved to 7-0.

Maci Martini added 13 kills, six digs and four ace serves and Kelsi Martini tallied 10 digs, three set assists and five ace serves.

C-I’s Brynn Hollenhorst finished with a kill, 10 set assists, three digs and one block. Samantha Hackey tallied five kills and three digs and Shyann Andrews finished with five kills and one block.

Mallory Uselman recorded four kills, four aces and 12 set assists for the Pirates while Reagen Ludovissie finished with four kills, nine digs, 13 set assists and two aces.

Pillager was led by Bridget Danielson who recorded 14 set assists, two aces and two digs.
