Area Volleyball: Patriots 2nd in Class 2A Showcase

BURNSVILLE — Maci Martini led the way with 57 kills and 42 digs for the Pequot Lakes Patriots as they finished 4-1 and got second place in the gold bracket at the Class 2A Showcase Sept. 23-24 in Burnsville.

Abi Martin recorded 115 set assists over the five games.

The Patriots swept through pool play with wins over New London-Spicer, Central and Jackson County Central.

In bracket play, Pequot Lakes swept Zumbrota-Mazeppa and then lost in the championship game to Nova Classical.

Ella Kratchovil registered 35 kills and 42 digs while Kelsi Martini had 59 digs for the tournament.

PIERZ — Ashley Kimman tallied 24 kills and Kendra Cekalla 42 set assists for the Pierz Pioneers who placed fifth at the Pierz Tournament Saturday, Sept. 24.

Aitkin placed seventh and was led by Maddie Hamilton’s 33 set assists and Jessica Much’s 29 digs.

PARKER PRAIRIE — Kaylee Mudgett recorded 48 digs for the Pillager Huskies as they went 0-4 at the Parkers Prairie tournament Saturday, Sept. 24.

Josephine Kimman tallied 12 kills and 18 digs while Bridget Danielson had 27 set assists for the Huskies.
